When we lose someone we love, our love for them doesn't die too. Whilst we know and eventually understand /accept why they are physically no longer alive, our love for them is instilled in us and lives on until the day we die.

Often, photos and memories just don't seem enough and we want to do something special to keep their memory alive or honour their life.
